Thank you to everyone who attended our anniversary celebration! A special appreciation to those who helped, donated and sponsored the event, particularly Father Antonio Silveira, Consul-General of Portugal Filipe Ramalheira, Taylor Amarante for being our Master of Ceremonies; Mariana Flores and her team for preparing the meal; Connie Goulart and her team for the dessert; Ligia Sarmento, Kayla Encarnação and Odina Diniz for the flower arrangements; Yvette Sousa and Margarida Bettencourt for coordinating the servers and all POSSO staff and directors for their time and tireless hours of work. Nascida em São Paulo, Brasil, Dhenig Chagas ingressou na POSSO em fevereiro de 2017. Formada em marketing, Dhenig sempre trabalhou em organizações não governamentais, inclusive no Brasil, onde teve a oportunidade de adquirir experiência em diferentes setores. Dhenig está sempre correndo de um lugar para outro; ela nunca para e até recebeu o apelido de “Borboleta” por alguns clientes. Durante seus oito anos na POSSO, Dhenig foi voluntária na cozinha, trabalhou como recepcionista, assistente social, líder de escritório e agora é Gerente de Projetos Especiais, liderando programas como Bingocize, aulas de iPad para idosos e desempenha um papel fundamental em nossas angariações de fundos e outros eventos. Dhenig é fundamental para o sucesso da POSSO. Quando perguntada por que escolheu trabalhar na POSSO, ela respondeu: “Eu queria trabalhar em uma organização sem fins lucrativos nos Estados Unidos. Quando descobri a POSSO, me identifiquei e tive a oportunidade de mostrar minhas habilidades e talentos.” Dhenig teve vários momentos importantes durante esses oito anos na POSSO, mas o mais memorável foi durante a COVID. “Todos sofreram, mas os mais impactados foram os idosos, especialmente aqueles que moravam sozinhos. A única pessoa que mais viam, e de longe, era eu ou outro colega quando íamos entregar refeições em suas casas. Como os idosos não podiam ir à POSSO para socializar, jogar cartas ou fazer crochê, isso causou muita depressão e solidão, e foi aí que percebi mais do que nunca a importância do trabalho que faço e do trabalho que a POSSO faz pela comunidade todos os dias.” Obrigada, Dhenig! Estamos gratos por você ter escolhido trabalhar na POSSO.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Dhenig Chagas joined POSSO in February 2017.With a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Dhenig has always worked in non-governmental organizations, including in Brazil, where she had the opportunity to gain experience in different sectors. Dhenig is always running from one place to another; she never stops and has even been nicknamed “Butterfly” by some clients. During her eight years at POSSO, Dhenig has volunteered in the kitchen, worked as a receptionist, caseworker, office lead, and is now Special Projects Manager, leading programs such as Bingocize, iPad classes for seniors, and plays a critical role in our fundraisers and other events. Dhenig is central to POSSO’s success. When asked why she chooses to work at POSSO, she replied, “I wanted to work in a non-profit in America. When I found POSSO, I identified with it, and I had the opportunity to show my abilities and talents.” Dhenig has had several important moments during her time at POSSO, but the most memorable was during COVID. “Everyone suffered, but the most impacted were the elderly, especially those who lived alone. The only person most saw, and from a distance, was me or another colleague when we went to deliver meals to their homes. With the elderly unable to go to POSSO to socialize, play cards or crochet, it caused a lot of depression and loneliness, and that’s when I realized more than ever the importance of the work I do and the work that POSSO does for the community every day.” Thank you, Dhenig!
